Taonga attends conference of youth workers in Ireland

Barefeet’s very own TT – Mr Taonga Tembo – is to travel from Zambia to Ireland this month to share his experiences with Irish youth workers and, in turn, learn from their practices

Barefeet recently joined forces with 80:20, an Irish-based development organisation working in both Zambia and Ireland.

Working on behalf of the Zambian organisation CSPR (Civil Society for Poverty Reduction), Barefeet and 80:20 devised a piece of theatre to identify the needs of people within local communities.

The initiative which will take Taonga to Ireland as part of a five-person delegation is a partnership between 80:20 and the National Youth Council of Ireland.

The other four Zambian groups attending the event are Sport in Action, Salvation Army, Student Partners Worldwide and Youth Association of Zambia.

Taonga will be in Ireland from November 12-27 and he will get the opportunity to visit youth projects.

The Irish contingent has already visited Zambia and came home with rave reviews of their time `that side’.
