Help Mosten get to Hope Street!

Help Mosten get to Hope Street!

Mosten M.M. Mutale, Creative Co-ordintaor with Barefeet Theatre, has recently been granted a fantastic training opportunity at Hope Street, Liverpool (UK).

mosten

The 6-month intensive apprenticeship programme aims to gain further knowledge and experience of theatre and the creative arts. Hope Street, an award winning organisation which has been central to the development of physical theatre, carnival arts, participatory arts, young people’s theatre, international arts and cross art form collaboration. The similarities with Barefeet are significant, as Hope Street also works closely with the community in Community engagement programmes, aiming to combat social exclusion and raise the standard and expectation of community arts.

Mosten will be mentored by the best local, national and international artists and work on five unique projects. The skills and activities will include installation, exhibition work, street theatre, festivals, sound design, digital design and media, initial actor training and business skills training.

This is a unique opportunity, for Mosten individually, but the benefits for Barefeet will be huge. On his return to Zambia, Mosten will share his knowledge and skills, taking a proactive role in planning, developing and implementing ideas within Barefeet, thus increasing the structural and creative capacity. This will have far-reaching benefits for those we work with- the children of the streets in Zambia.

Although Mosten is exempt from any fees, we are sourcing funding to support his flight and sustenance whilst in the UK.
