Floating down South Africa way

Not content with conquering parts of Europe last year Barefeet Theatre have taken their magic to a South African theatre festival

In June 2009 the Barefeet performers travelled to Grahamstown, South Africa, to work with UBOM! Youth Theatre Company. They journeyed to the heart of traditional myths, breathing life into cultural and historic debates, using physical theatre, song, dance, acrobatics and magic.  Zambian and South African traditions and artistry combined in a cultural explosion of ideas, bringing the Nyami Nyami water spirit to the centre of debate once more. All because of a dam, dammit! The play then ‘floated’ north to Zambia in September where audiences were blown away by the breathtaking imagery and movement on stage at Lusaka Playhouse.

Something to say?
